Is it allowed for me to complement a fellow author who has been around for years, but who I only recently discovered (insert appropriate blushing)?

Allowed or not, this is a bit if a fanboy post and review of the Dean Koontz novel The Silent Corner. Though published in 2017 (for a total of 5 books in total so far) I found it recommended in the myriad of newsletters I receive, and sometimes even read, which rather caught me by surprise.

Really, who hasn’t heard of Dean Koontz? I know I had, but I had never gotten around to reading anything he had written.

Wow. My bad.

The Silent Corner is a brilliant introduction to a character I can only describe as intelligent, driven, and deep. She is brought to life by Mr Koontz’s excellent prose and the paranoid perspective created by the events that happens all around her are enough to keep anyone awake late into the night.

As I write this I’m just a few chapters from the end of Book 1 and only put it away because I needed to get some sleep before heading in to work. As a writer I find Dean Koontz to be an inspiration in the field of genre writing (just like Kristine Kathryn Rusch) and will look forward to my eventual bankruptcy fueled by Amazon as it leads me to spend what little I have on otherwise delicious impulse buys.

Don’t fall for it!

But do pick up The Silent Corner. If you enjoy dark action stories with large conspiracies and heroes that inspire you then you will not be disappointed.

(Speaking of inspiring heroes: the Kidnapping Anna Trilogy goes on sale in both ebook and paper until January 1. Can you say Perfect Christmas gift?)

What will you feel?
