Feeling Uncomfortable

Don't worry about what's under the bed. Worry about what's behind the mask...

October! OMG! Just a few weeks to what has to be one of my favorite times of year.

Halloween.

Really, is there another time of year where you can put on a costume and not have to worry about what anyone says? Good costume. Bad costume. Whatever.

Some of you probably realize that newsletters can be written well ahead of time while others can be completed a few minutes before they go out, or anything in between.

Today happens to be a rainy day. However, because we have crossed that magical line of Labor Day not only do I see the usual suspects catching the train at ungodly hours, I also see the school buses going by having picked up the neighborhood children to continue learning things they don’t quite understand for reasons they don’t quite understand with people they don’t quite understand.

I sense a pattern. The unknown is something that had always made us uncomfortable. That goes a long way toward explaining why we spend so much time trying to explain the unexplainable. ..until we figure it out. ..and why we still holds onto beliefs that we know make no sense, but we seem to derive a strange sense of comfort from (no, there is nothing under your bed. No, there is no one hiding in your closet. No, there is no one standing in the dark looming over you as you sleep).

(Or is there?)

I remember when I moved into my new home trying to get to sleep and imaging someone coming from around a corner wearing a goalie mask holding a knife and coming at me as fast as they could.

Yes, I had a hard time sleeping that night.

And yet I love horror stories and look forward to the next scare just add much as the next horror fan. With the upcoming release of Beyond the Door I sense a few more sleepless nights.

What keeps you up at night? Let me know in the comment box on the website!

What will you feel?
